Glenn Copeland is the State Registrar for Michigan and also serves as the Director of the Michigan Cancer Surveillance Program and the Michigan Birth Defects Registries. Glenn has worked for over 40 years in the Vital Records and Health Statistics office in Lansing overseeing vital records registrations as well as processing and analyzing of vital statistics and health event data. He has been responsible for the development of the Electronic Death Registration System for Michigan that is being implemented across the state.
Phil will update members on the legislation to upgrade Michigan's right-of-disposition law by, among other reforms, allowing an individual to appoint a "funeral representative" to make funeral arrangement and final disposition decisions after his or her death. Phil will also brief members on other MFDA legislative activity, as well.
