Webcasting Resources

With current restrictions on funeral attendance in place, many members are exploring webcasting services on their website or other internet venues such as Facebook and YouTube, to allow those not physically present to participate.

You may have seen in yesterday's update that funeralOne is offering its webcasting services at a 50% discount for MFDA members on both new and existing accounts. Please contact them at (800) 798-2575 to get additional information and necessary equipment.

If you are new to webcasting, please know that a different music license is required for a funeral home to broadcast musical performances over the internet. So, if you plan to webcast services that include copyrighted music, you would be violating copyright laws without first obtaining this special license.

The National Funeral Directors Association offers a Webcasting License for $50 per website for NFDA Members.  NFDA confirmed yesterday, that this webcasting license does allow performance of copyrighted music on Facebook and YouTube. A copy of NFDA's Music License and Webcast License application form is attached below to acquire those licenses.
