Governor's Office Clarifies That Attending a Funeral Service is an Essential Activity

As noted in today's earlier Bulletin, MFDA has been seeking to clarify Governor Whitmer's "Stay-At-Home" order (E.O. 2020-21), on the question of whether attending a funeral service is exempt as an "essential activity".

MFDA has received early information that attending a funeral service is considered exempt. Consequently, there is no need to cancel or reschedule funeral services currently scheduled to occur after midnight tonight. These services are still subject to the previously announced 50 person limitation, and appropriate social distancing measures, however.

In meeting with families regarding future services, please be mindful that this situation is rapidly evolving, and subject to change on an hour-by-hour basis. MFDA will provide future guidance as additional details become available.
